Redcar Newmarket Football club is based in Redcar at Rye Hills School (a specialist Sports College). The club has grown from a junior team in 1972 to become an established veterans team playing on Saturdays in the Sunderland and District O40's league and from 2009/2010 season we have a senior team playing in the Teesside League Division 2. From 2013/14 we will have two junior teams playing in the Teesside Junior Alliance at Under 10 and Under 13 Level. We currently have over 70 playing members. The club has a well structured training programme which operates on Monday 7.45 to 8.45 and Thursdays 6:45 to 9pm throughout the year. The junior teams train on Wednesdays and saturday mornings.
The club also has a well established social section which regularly attracts support from over 100 associate members. The club organises a wide range of social and fundraising events throughout the year. The club has a 20 year tradition of going on tour and has visited teams in all parts of the country. In recent years we have had very successful tours to Dublin , Edinburgh, Milton Keynes and York
Annually the cost of operating a good quality football club is approximately 12000. As a club we have always operated a policy that we would be financially autonimous ( i.e. we would not accept financial support that meant our football decisions would be dictated by others). This principle means three things:
a) we have to search very carefully for the right kind of sponsors
b) that we are highly dependant upon a small group of people to organise fund raising events
c) we rely on ALL PLAYERS to support these events by selling tickets to family and friends and TURN UP TO ALL SOCIAL EVENTS.
The club has operated very successfully using this principle for 37 years.
We have arguabley the best set up in the league for:
a)match and training facilities and resources
b)range of corporate team and leisure wear
c)administrational services and support
To continue operating at this level it is vital that all players ensure they support the club OFF the pitch.
