Finally we got this County Cup 1/4 final underway. Several changes due to injury, suspension and unavailability. Under pressure early and two good saves from Hodgy kept us in it. Then two well taken goals on 10 and 20 minutes through JAMIE GRAHAM and ANDY BEAN gave us a 2 goal lead. Thirsk hit back and pulled one back on 30 minutes.
HALF TIME - REDCAR NEWMARKET 2 THIRSK FALCONS 1
The second half was always going to be hard against a strong wind. We held out without allowing them any clear cut chances until 5 minutes from time when they levelled direct from a corner. Deep in to injury time Thirsk scrambled a winner. It was cruel luck on the lads that battled hard all the way through and i would not fault the effort and commitment of any of the team. We were running on empty at the end and we had little scope to change it with having a bench of only 3 including a goalkeeper and a combined age of 155. I find it dissapointing that people could have helped us out here but chose not to. We have to focus on climbing the league now. We know we have been playing well and not getting the results we deserve of late. I have every confidence that we can start climbing the table now.
