V TEES VALLEY TIGERS
By Mal Bean
REDCAR NEWMARKET F.C.
1st friendly of the new season, home to Tees Valley Tigers, ending in a 3 – 2 defeat.
The opposition were a hard working, organised team, but in the first half caused Newmarket very little in the way of threat to our goal. The home defence coping well, and were organised.
Starting line up = Dale, Dan, JQ (Capt.) Rob, Sully, Lee J., Sam, Puckers, Anth J., Leon and Dowsey. Subs = Marcus, Liam J., Blacky, Callum, Lewis U., Kenny and Passman.
Going it at half time 2 – 0 to the good. Two goals to LEON B., the score line could have been more with chances also going to DOWSEY – strike from 18 yards tipped over (5). DANNY – back post header after a free kick from Puckers on the right wing, headed wide (19). ROB H. – headed over from a corner when the keeper missed his clearance (25). PUCKERS – with a strike from 20 yards, the TVT keeper palming to safety (37). Leon’s goals coming in the 38th and 43rd minutes, the first I’m not too sure how much he knew of it, but the second was a cool finish.
Mark’s half time (and pre-match) talk was about pressing the opposition, and winning the ball back in their half, which we started doing in the first half but faded away.
Changes at half time were Liam J for Danny, Blacky for Sully, Kenny for Rob H., Marcus for Sam and Lewis U. For Anth J. Callum and Passman being introduced later in the game for LJ and JQ.
TVT started the second half on the front foot and hit the Newmarket bar on 48 minutes as they found space on our right, Liam had gone to mark the man with the ball, an opposition player snook in behind him and nobody came across to cover!
56 minutes and a penalty appeal as Dowsey was dragged down in the box, nothing given.
On 59 minutes a TVT player was red carded, although they were allowed to play on with 11 men!
Between the 68th and 78th minutes we conceded 3 goals to give the opposition the upper hand, two of the goals were avoidable, the third we were just outmuscled!
68 mins and a poor pass inside by Callum to Passman sold him short, the opposition capitalising and through on goal. We were under no real pressure at this point. (2-1)
75 mins and a fine save by Dale high to his left, corner to TVT, from this corner the ball fell to Callum, his ‘clearance’ went straight to a TVT player, his shot curled in. (2-2)
78 mins and 2 – 3. The opposition No. 17 (Known as The Beast apparently) beat 3 Newmarket defenders, and then placed his shot passed Dale. This player caused us a few problems when he came on at half time.
After this the game fizzled out really, a few moans from the lads on the pitch, a few changes made to try and rescue a draw/win. But, nothing more stood out.
FULL TIME = 3 -2 TO TVT. Well done to them. A game of two halves for Newmarket!!
MOM – None awarded by the opposition.
Hopefully everyone has seen and READ the recent messages from Mark, it is important information for ALL.
Finally, everyone should have received and again READ the list of fines proposed by the Players Committee. They are as follows;

The above have been discussed and organised by the Players Committee. They are enforceable by YOUR committee. Fines are paid to your committee.
SO, the following were late on Saturday – Dale, Dan, Dowsey, Blacky (unaware of the rules apparently!) and Mr. Passman.
The players that DID NOT SHOWER-get away with one this week!!
DID NOT ATTEND THE PUB – Dale (at work) Dan (picking kids up) Leon (family commitment?) Dowsey (Not sure why!)
NRCFA/League fines AND SUBS are to be paid BEFORE any players fines are paid, as the club will NOT lose out financially. The financial running of the club is paramount.
Thank-you gents; and good luck for the new season. You can do it as a squad.
