Redcar Newmarket U19 v Tockwith

Match report

We made new friends down in Tockwith yesterday with 7 yellow cards i thought we had a famous local ref doing the job. But it was a very competitive match Tockwith probably edging the first half. We lost Tom Keogh within the first 5mins, which meant we had to reshuffle. And for the next 20mins our defence were under lots of pressure but held strong with excellent defending from Chris.Mark,Levi & Matt backed up with safe hands from Tom. It wasn’t until 10mins before half time our pace wide showed we could give them a game. We managed to break a well-organised Tockwith defence but the keeper was equal to everything. O-O HT
The second half started badly again with Josh feeling unwell and now we were down to 11 players standing. The game looked like it was heading to stalemate but the hard work of Sam James Leon and Archie in midfield was working hard to get the ball to Jack and Curtis. At this point Tockwith broke and only a top class save from Tom saved the day. Then we turned the tables Leon and James working flat out winning every ball, which eventually arrived with James who fired a screamer into the bottom corner from 35 yards. 1-0.With 10mins left we new the ref was whistle and card happy and could Easley blow for a penalty so we defended cautiously and once again I cant praise the back line enough for the composure in defending our goal. This time Curtis who had worked so hard all game came close to scoring but it was Jack who put the game to bed with a shot, which hit the net with power. 2-0FT.
Today we had 5 players missing and came up against a team equal to anything In our league. And Credit to them another day the result could have been different but it was our day so back on the coach to the local Pub and a good time had by all.
